What does it solve?

Power grids are the backbone of the electricity system and must be expanded and modernized to adapt to the energy transition, which has implications such as fluctuating and distributed generation or new infrastructures for vehicle charging, among others. The flexibility of the grid, which until now relied mainly on fossil fuels and hydroelectric power, will come to depend on battery storage systems or making use of energy carriers such as hydrogen or ammonia; demand response; and bioenergy. In addition, the network power will not have a single direction and will be transformed into a bidirectional flow.

It has renewable sources (photovoltaic and wind), storage systems (batteries and hydrogen) and load emulators, for the definition and evaluation of control strategies for energy management (EMS). Our experience in modeling dynamic and transient scale power inverters is the basis for analyzing and defining control strategies for grid stability, which can be experimentally validated, even for combined control of DC and AC grids.
