Advancement and Innovation for Detectors at Accelerators. (AIDAINNOVA)
Program: H2020
Reference:101004761
Resolution date: 03/15/2021
Date of execution: 01/04/2021-31/03/2025
AIDAinnova aims to improve European detector development infrastructures by fostering innovative technological developments with industry. The objectives of the project are as follows:
– Explore applications of novel technologies such as hybrid CMOS sensors, additive manufacturing or Machine Learning technologies, and evaluate their performance for the needs of future HEP experiments.
– Strengthen synergies between different projects and communities, with high added value through the optimal use of common software and common prototyping using the latest technologies for microelectronics.
– Increase the efficiency and quality of beam irradiation and testing facilities by supporting their upgrades and improvements through targeted innovation activities.
– To prepare the European industry for mass production of HEP detectors.
AIDAinnova will provide state-of-the-art improvements in research infrastructures, such as test beam and irradiation facilities, and covers all key technologies for future detectors. It focuses on strategic developments at intermediate levels of technological maturity (TRL2-7) and also includes prospective R&D at TRL1. Therefore, AIDAinnova will deploy synergies by bringing together the expertise of communities aspiring to various future projects and maximize the use of resources.
