Electrification of concrete vibrators

The decarbonization of construction sites is a trend that has begun in the construction sector, which has the vocation to adapt its business activity to the recent treaties that fight against climate change and to an ecological citizen awareness that is increasingly present in our society.

This trend is based on various technological aspects related to the electrification of machinery, the reduction of energy consumption based on improvements in performance or operating efficiency, and the reduction of maintenance and the use of spare parts.

In this context, construction companies are initiating their technological developments from an innovative perspective in order to incorporate attributes related to the efficient use of natural resources. A paradigmatic example of this transformation is the case of ENARCO‘s BOXEL concrete vibrator.

Problem

During the pouring of the concrete it is necessary to use the concrete vibrator to release the air and excess water inside the mass by means of the oscillations it produces. In this way, a more homogeneous and resistant result is achieved, once the concrete has hardened. It also ensures the best adhesion to the reinforcement and between the different layers.

In order to achieve a correct vibration of the concrete, vibrating needles must be immersed in the mixture. The inner motor of the concrete vibrator, responsible for the vibration, cannot be connected to the common power supply due to its special characteristics. It needs a special conversion of electrical frequency and voltage, provided by means of equipment called a converter.
